It may have thousands of parts but it is very satisfying to assemble. It’s like a hugely complex jigsaw puzzle and a great sense of achievement when you have it fully assembled and on show.
Let me give you an insight into the things I used that made my assembly so much easier.
1. You will need a medium size towel to cover your assembly table (dining table works well). Why I hear you ask? Hard plastic dropped on hard surfaces will bounce into oblivion and unless you really like scrabbling around for a grey Lego piece on a grey carpet I suggest you follow rule 1.
2. A pair of longish tweezers that will allow the fat fingered of us to layout the parts before assembly. They small parts have an amazing ability to “flick” out of your fingers into carpet oblivion. If you have hard flooring too - they just bounce farther.
3. Finally a quick tip on the overall process. There is an “App” you have to download. Do it, don’t think it’s cheating or “now on earth can an App” help?” I’ll just say it’s invaluable and leave it at that. There is a beautiful assembly booklet supplied - use them in conjunction with each other. The parts come in a series of paper bags 1 - 6 and a few smaller other bags. Do one bag per session, lay it out and don’t open all bags at once.
If you follow these guidelines you will while away the hours in a beautiful unhurried fashion. This kit is not about instant gratification. It’s about precision and order. You might have realised those things mean a lot to me.
